Today 29th March 2026, teams of lawyers were dispatched to different cathedrals across Kasese District to speak about the pro-bono legal services that have been going on during this month and to close with a public legal clinic on Tuesday as kasese celebrates international women’s day after the main national celebrations that was held on 8th. So far 306 registered cases of women in conflict with the law, 55 already on trial remanded in prisons. Lawyers have committed to follow all these cases to conclusion as their contribution towards speeding up justice for women during March the month for women. Many thanks for the support that enabled teams move to the field registering cases, engaging state prosecutors, witnesses and other actors.
Many blessings!

Carpentry and Vocational Skills Equipment

We have viewed the carpentry and other vocational skills equipment being auctioned by Action For Community Development. The organisation top leadership is encouraging us to identify all that CHALAPI-UG would require and then put a figure of amount of money we can offer so they can discuss at the opening of Bids. Most of the equipment are still very sound.
Our prayer that we can raise some money to at least pick some and not miss out on this opportunity to have our centre get more equipped to serve the community.
I have informed chairman and has asked that meet him at his country home on Monday for further discussions over the same.
Once again many thanks for every donation that has kept us reach out to our target beneficiaries.
Blessings!

Justice for Women
Access to Justice for women during March the month for women- offering Pro-bono legal services
Following concerns over the growing number of female inmates on offences mainly linked to domestic violence and financial distress, there’s worsening congestion which is also undermining rehabilitation efforts. CHALAPI-UG has been requested by kasese female advocates to spearhead a campaign offering free legal services to women undergoing trial in the criminal justice system.
We are humbly and kindly appealing for any financial assistance to facilitate the legal team with fuel to support movements to prisons, courts and also support documentation during this period.
A cost worth uganda shillings 4.360.000 is estimated. The team is committed offering themselves registering cases and following to conclusion.
Join us on this yet another important activity. Feel free to share this to friends.
We can as well make it away to celebrate March through observance fostering greater awareness of woman’s rights that recognizes their contributions a cross sectors and call for actions to dismantle barriers to gender equality.
Look forward to hearing from you dear brethren.
Blessings!

Prison Monitoring
I arrived in Kampala last night after two week of traversing the North districts of Uganda visiting 56 prisons monitoring the state of human rights focusing on political prisoners during this Uganda’s elections period. I was honored by Defend Defenders a big regional organization operating across African to join a team of 10 monitors that included officials from the Uganda Human rights Commission and Human Rights watch an international organization. Though only official cameras and telephones cleared by government were allowed for our documentary, the conditions are so alarming, prisons receive already tortured inmates with rotting wounds in severe agony. This morning we join the rest of the human rights actors to commemorate the international human rights day and at this dialogue some of the untold stories will be shared to find mitigation measures.
